UFC Nashville: Lewis vs. Teixeira picks and predictions
See who we think will win in Nashville this weekend.
The UFC is in Music City this weekend with a heavyweight main event featuring a promotional stalwart and an exciting up and comer. Derrick Lewis vs. Tallison Teixeira could be a fun one. And it could give us an exciting prospect ready to make some noise in this newly invigorated Jon Bones Jones-less division.
The co-main event has Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson trying to extend his Octagon career in a fight with slick submission artist Gabriel Bonfim.
Now, on paper, this card doesn’t look that special — with far too many fighters either over 40 or fast approaching 40. But there’s actually some decent scraps here and some interesting characters who you should be familiar with.
The main card has Steve Garcia going for five TKO wins in a row against Calvin Kattar who is trying to avoid losing five in a row. There’s also the very fun Nate Landwehr taking on Morgan Charriere.
The prelims include Jake Matthews vs. Chidi Njokuani (which should be on the main card) and the return of Lauren Murphy, she fights Eduarda Moura. The prelims also have Kennedy Nzechukwu vs. Valter Walker. That should also probably be on the main card, too. I predict some nuttiness in that one.
As always we’ve done our best to predict who will win all these fights. And we’re pretty good at doing that.
I’m still clinging to top spot in our leader board, just seven points ahead of Miguel. I’m keeping my nose in front because of my ability to make lock picks (picks we are especially confident about and which give us ten bonus points if we are right). Last time I went with Ilia Topuria, allowing my head to win out over my heart. Nate continues to pick winners at a .700 clip. Scroll down to see who he is picking this week (as well as my lock pick for the week).

Derrick Lewis (+215) vs. Tallison Teixeira (-265)
Miguel Class: Teixeira is tall, young, athletic, and looks to have a solid skillset for his lack of experience. That makes him a rarity at heavyweight and it’s somewhat understandable why the UFC is rushing him into a main event. …
