The ultimate gatekeeper. Art by Chris Rini.

The UFC is back in the APEX this weekend with a card that has seen more than its fair share of chops and changes. Our main event has remained intact, though. Neil Magny, one of the UFC’s longest serving inmates fighters, is due to meet Carlos Prates (who is 4-0 with four highlight reel stoppages in his UFC career thus far).

The co-main was supposed to be Cody Garbrandt vs. Miles Johns. But ‘No Love’ fell out due to injury. The current co-main is scheduled to feature Gerald Meerschaert welcoming former ONE champ Reinier de Ridder to the big show.

The rest of the card is Contenderrific with names like Cortavious Romious and Mansur Abdul-Malik.

As always, we’ve made our picks for these fights (something we’re pretty darn good at). You can see all those below.

Neil Magny (+500) vs. Carlos Prates (-850)

Miguel Class: Carlos Prates has been impressive, but there’s a little concern with the lack of his opponents to take him past the second round in the UFC. Still, Magny should be a pretty easy test for him. I was surprised to see Magny in a main event in 2024, especially after he lost his last two main event bookings (Chiesa in 2021 and Ponzinibbio in 2018). But, that’s exactly why they’re bringing him in here against Prates.
