UFC Vegas 107: Blanchfield vs. Barber picks and predictions

Is this weekend’s UFC card so bad that it’s good? Feels like a great event to hate-watch with friends and reminisce about the good ol’ days when Anderson Silva was fighting for free on Spike TV.

Our main event sees flyweight contenders Erin Blanchfield and Maycee Barber meet. That’s alright. The co-main is Mateusz Gamrot vs. L’udovit Klein. That’s alright, too. Maybe it’s decent, if you’re feeling generous (and you’re a KSW fan). After that though… it’s tough to make a case for this card being worth your time.

Allan Nascimento vs. Jafel Filho could be a banger (on the ground). It’s Chute Boxe vs. Nova Uniao. Billy Ray Goff vs. Ramiz Brahimaj could be a fun brawl, too. At least this is all on at a decent hour on Saturday night.

Regardless of the quality of these fights, we’ve done our darndest to examine them, break them down and pick winners, baby!

Last week Kristen, Miguel and myself went 11-4, which ain’t too shabby. Nate went 8-3 (he doesn’t like picking round totals). The boss man actually has a very gaudy .693 percentage on picking fights! I’m still top of our leader board, though. That’s thanks to my precision lock picking (as in, I’m 14-2 in making lock picks each week — picks which I’m especially confident in). Maycee Barber (+200) vs. Erin Blanchfield (-250)

Update: At the weigh-ins, Barber weighed in at 126.5 pounds, half a pound over the women's flyweight non-title fight limit. The bout will proceed at catchweight and Barber will be fined 20 percent of her purse which will go to Blanchfield.

Miguel Class: While this fight doesn’t initially conjure up much excitement, it’ll probably end up being a compelling live watch. Both Barber and Blanchfield are incredibly determined fighters and appropriately sized for the division.
