UFC Vegas 109: Dolidze vs. Hernandez picks and predictions
See who we think will win at the APEX this weekend.
The UFC stays put this weekend, with their second APEX show in a row. UFC Vegas 109 is headlined by Roman Dolidze vs. Anthony Hernandez, which is OK… The rest of the card, though, not great. Unlike last week’s APEX card, which was sneaky good, this one doesn’t have much name value or top prospects on show. Instead, there’s a lot of squash matches (if you believe the odds alone).
The co-main is Steve Erceg versus late replacement Ode’ Osbourne. Erceg was supposed to fight Alex Perez and then Hyun Sung Park before both those bouts fell through for various reasons.
Also on the main card is Angela Hill vs. Iasmin Lucindo, Eryk Anders vs. Christian Leroy Duncan, Andre Fili vs. Christian Rodriguez and Miles Johns vs. Jean Matsumoto. Matsumoto is the most exciting fighter of the bunch.
The prelims has Elijah Smith vs. Toshiomi Kazama. Smith is the best prospect on the card.
As ever, we’ve looked over the match-ups and provided our two cents below. Last week we rebounded from a poor showing to put up some big numbers (which is the norm around here). Kid Nate responded to his first losing record of the year by going 10-2, taking his year long record to 203-92! I’m still atop the leader board, thanks to going 13-5 last week and hitting on my lock pick again (it was Rodolfo Vieira this time). Everyone else hit their locks, too, so I wasn’t able to grow my lead.
Check out who we are picking this weekend, below.

Leader board
Roman Dolidze (+270) vs. Anthony Hernandez (-350)
Miguel Class: This has a chance to be Dolidze’s most exciting fight in a while, but that’s more dependent on Fluffy being willing to run his usual relentless folkstyle wrestling game. Dolidze isn’t much better technically on the feet, but he’s more dangerous and will have a size advantage, so I’m really hoping Fluffy doesn’t get scared off by Dolidze’s offense off his back…
